Gauthama Buddha in the abhaya mudra (recep’n area KIMS hospital, Hyd.)- executed in rough banglore granite stone and glass bricks. Approximate size of the mural – 25’x9’(height). Date of completion –dec 2003
The circular arch represents the famous wheel of dhamma and the eight glass-
bricks studded in the stone represent the eight jewels of the eight fold path of the
Buddha, and the raised hand represent the abhaya mudra which gives solace to the
Depressed.
But above all it is the relative order of the simple forms of triangle (abstracted
Image of the seated Buddha), square (the bodhi tree) and the circle (the stone arch)
And the play of the light and shadow (due to various level differences in the stone
Surface) creates a kind of subtle and dramatic effect on the viewers mind and can absorb their attention momentarily. |
