SHIV KUMAR - 2008 A huge residential flat that demanded a concept that has to have a relationship with the two murals on the complementary niches of the walls. One wall is directly opposite to the main door and the other perpendicular to the first one in the dining area. The flat is airy and full of light. It also had a magnificent view of the lake Hussain Sagar , with its continuous cool breeze and a large expanse of the sheet of water with ripples and taking your eye to the infinity.

A CELEBRATION OF THE ELEMENTS- AIR, WATER AND LIGHT the above elements are personified as demigods and the two murals which complement each other are 1)during the day and 2) during the night. The mural is composed with sun god as the focus during the day and moon during the night. The line lines go as…..the wind is blowing (the trumpet) and the sun is beating (the drums) and the water goddesses is rhythmatically playing (ripples) to the above tune. In the night version the sun god is replaced by the moon with his cool and romantic light.

The mural in the family living is a bird’s eye view of a RIVER GHAT with its sweeping steps and abstract temples. The river has been done in onyx -a transparent marble variety and the tied boats at the edge are in teak wood, the rest is executed in flamed granite. A small mural in one of the daughter’s bedroom is about a girl sitting lonely near a lotus pool, all alone in a meditative mood, completely unaware about the world, enjoying the moment and nature.

LANDSCAPE in the sit out; the idea is to create a dried up stream with pebbles which cuts across the space creating two levels on either side. A small wooden bridge over the stream connects both the levels. A huge wooden seater on one side and a green wall with niches and protrusions on the opposite side add to the landscaped area.
